Recovery Stages
DAY 1 - 3 INFLAMMATORY STAGE
Histamine is released and swelling begins. It is important to allow swelling and not take anti-inflammatories or antihistamine as the more histamine present the more fibroblasts will be activated. (The tightening at this stage is caused by dehydration but is not the result.)
DAY 3 - 5 EXFOLIATION STAGE
The tiny carbon crusts begin to flake away leaving pink/red skin underneath. As soon as the treated area underneath is clear of all crusts, VitC and HA serum should be applied twice daily followed by SPF50 for the duration of the 12 week healing period.
DAY 5 - 28 FIBROBLASTIC STAGE
Fibroblasts begin to signal to each other to make the proteins Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and Elastin. At this stage the dermis is like a water bed and can’t support the epidermis. This is also known as the slackening stage!
WEEKS 4 - 12 MATURATION STAGE
Collagen becomes strong and tensile - it forms cross links with elastin and HA. The bundles become stronger and stronger and the dermis plumps, which reflects on the tone and texture of the epidermis, giving tighter firmer skin.
